# Is Tessary a trace explorer?

Not primarily. Tessary stores every trace it ingests, and you can open any one of them, but the product isn't built as a general browsing tool the way a dedicated trace platform is. The usual path in is a finding: a classifier flags something, a case opens, and the trace viewer is where you go to confirm what it found, read the spans involved, and see the evidence behind that specific claim. Searching broadly across traces with no starting point, the kind of exploratory digging a trace explorer is built around, isn't the workflow Tessary optimizes for. If your team wants to browse traces at large, independent of anything Tessary has flagged, a dedicated trace viewer running alongside Tessary covers that; the same OpenTelemetry export can reach both.
